Baringo senator Gideon Moi has rubbished social media claims that he visited Deputy President William Ruto at his Karen office in Nairobi.

A social media user who goes by the name Love Child shared a post on Facebook claiming the senator had visited the DP and that the two political antagonists held some discussion its agenda was not clear.

In a quick rejoinder on Thursday, May 9, Gideon via his Twitter handle dismissed the report as “fake news” and urged the public to ignore it.

“The social media has been awash with photos purporting that I was at a certain Karen home. The information is not true but propaganda by a wing of the political divide desperate to hoodwink Kenyans. I have been home in Kabarak since yesterday spending quality time with H.E Mzee,”tweeted Gideon.

The senator and Ruto have been at loggerheads for a long time and have displayed their hate for one another both in public and private with the recent incident witnessed during the burial of retired president Daniel Moi’s eldest son, Jonathan Moi.

Gideon reportedly abandoned a served lunch at his brother’s home upon learning his political nemesis, Ruto, was on the way and could possibly meet him at the table. The son of Kenyan’s second and longest serving president has also been frustrating the DP’s efforts to meet his father on several occasions.

The retired president is considered by a clique of top politicians in the country as a political godfather and many have been visiting him to seek his blessings, especially the 2022 presidential hopefuls. Gideon and Ruto had declared their interests in the 2022 presidential race.
