Tottenham are in talks with Jose Mourinho to replace the sacked Mauricio Pochettino and both sides believe a deal is close.
Spurs announced the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino in an official statement on their website on Tuesday evening.
Talks continued into Tuesday night, while both sides believe a deal is close and will be concluded by Wednesday. His first game would be at West Ham on Saturday lunchtime.
Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United in December last year.
“The Club can today announce that Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino and Antoni Jimenez have been relieved of their duties,” the statement read.
Spurs have had a poor start to the season, with the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United before the international break leaving them in 14h place in the table, 11 points adrift of fourth placed Manchester City.

It would really hurt to see Mourinho go to Spurs. If he’s offered a job at a top Premier League club, he’s unlikely to reject it and would be almost daft to. But if he has enough respect and love for Chelsea, he won’t take the job.

I wish nothing but the worst for Jose Mourinho if he goes to Tottenham.

If Jose Mourinho goes to Tottenham I will lose all respect for him. Manchester United is one thing, but going to another London club is another
If he still has any love for Chelsea, he has to reject that job..

Mourinho has spent two spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, between the years of 2004-2007 and 2013-2015.
