Deputy President William Ruto has missed many important meetings which were being chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta following the infighting in Jubilee.
Ruto again on Tuesday missed a critical meeting at State House which was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Prof Makau Mutua said that Ruto being absent during the meeting could mean that he has been sacked by President Uhuru or he has sacked himself.
Prof Mutua said that if the deputy president will continue missing on important meetings, he should just quit after he failed to attend Tuesday’s meeting to discuss the county revenue sharing stalemate.
“DP @WilliamsRuto CONSPICUOUSLY absent today as Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta hosted @Senate_KE to resolve the revenue allocation impasse. Meeting attended by @RailaOdinga. Either the DP has EFFECTIVELY been sacked by Uhuru Kenyatta, or he’s sacked himself. Me, I’d QUIT!” said Mutua.
Ruto and Raila had clashed over the revenue sharing formula but both the two leaders at the end called for a win-win formula.
Ruto has been absent in many government meetings this is after his relationship with President Uhuru took a hit after Uhuru started working with Raila as many were left asking if Ruto has been sidelined.
Ruto and his allies the past few weeks in their meetings said that the DP has stepped aside following his fallout with Uhuru.
A section of politicians from his camp claimed that Ruto has been sidelined and Uhuru does not want to invite him for important meetings.
“Uhuru Kenyatta has not given the deputy president any responsibility neither does he invite him for important meetings in the name of using Covid-19 as an excuse,” said Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
