Messi earned $92m as salary and the other $34m of his take-home was made from several endorsements.

Despite making a U-turn on his career with Barcelona, the Argentine superstar still leads the top earning footballers with former teammate Neymar coming third pocketing $96m.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe rose to fourth on the pile taking his total sum to $42m at the age of 21.
