A Report by Daily Nation Dated Saturday 21st November has alleged that Deputy President William Ruto had a secret meeting with members of his tanga tanga camp where he issued them with new orders.
According to a report by the Daily Nation newspaper, Ruto has now ordered his Tangatanga Brigade to stop attacking the president and the government. The DP ordered this during a closed-door meeting in Karen.
The DP has also ordered for the withdrawal of the letter against the Jubilee party at the Registrar of political parties.
The relationship between the two seemed to have broken beyond repair. Until recently where President Kenyatta has been seen together with his Deputy. The two are reported to have been in a closed-door meeting in the statehouse that lasted for 3 hours.
The President suspended the launching of the BBI Signature collections event immediately after he met with Ruto ended.
The National Secretariat for Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) has postponed the launch of signature collection citing the delayed publication of the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020.
In a memo BBI Secretariat Co-chairpersons Junet Mohamed and Dennis Waweru have said the team will not be able to launch the exercise on Thursday, November 19, as had been planned earlier.
“The postponement has been necessitated by the late completion and publication of the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020 which is scheduled for printing later tonight.
The secretariat is working on a new date with a comprehensive program of rollout activities which will be communicated in due course,” the memo notes.
On Tuesday, ODM leader Raila Odinga met Members of County Assemblies and later on told the press that the exercise to collect signatures was on course and it would take the shortest time possible.
“We want the collection of signatures to be done as quickly as possible,” he said. Odinga revealed that the BBI steering team— headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and him—would be going for five million signatures to okay the referendum.
The DP and his allies have always been against the BBI, even after President Uhuru Kenyatta openly revealed that he involved Ruto in all the steps in the making of BBI.
Since the 3 hour meeting between the preident and the DP, many have alleged that the two leaders might be ironing ot their issues with a report by the Star alleging that ODM leaders have started to sense that the president is tricking them.
According to the Star, Raila’s allies have sensed everything is not ok.
