Grade 5 pupil captured on a viral photo herding cattle while studying receives Visitors from Kenya National Police

When a photo of Janet Memusi studying while herding cows went viral on social media, it never occurred to her that she would receive a special visitor.

Janet, a grade five pupil at Ololchani primary school in Transmara West Sub-County set Facebook and Twitter abuzz with several social media users pouring encouraging messages. This reached Mr. Francis Kooli, a Commissioner of Police and the County Commander Kisii.

Touched by the little girl’s thirst for knowledge, the County boss organized a visit to ascertain the child’s welbeing and to support her academic journey. Her teachers reported that she is a disciplined and hardworking girl whose efforts have paid off in her performance in school.

Janet’s gesture is a boost to the girl child education campaign in the area where indices of girls’ enrolment in school have improved lately.

“The National Police Service is an active stakeholder in community matters through our elaborate community policing programs and we compliment the Children Department to ensure best interests of children are always upheld.” a statement from national police service read.
