KIBRA politics oust Dennis Oliech from Gor Mahia.

The former harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech has yet again been on the trending side of events.

Oliech, 34, who recently joined Gor Mahia on January 2, 2019 in a deal estimated to be worth sh3.5 million signed the contract of 2 years with the country’s football giants. A deal the club considers to be the most lucrative one in it’s history. But again the former Stars striker is yet to run out his contract with the club as the club officially terminated their contract with the player prematurely. This happened barely a few hours after the player allegedly posted a campaign poster on social media with his picture on it. It’s reported that the veteran striker was eyeing for the Kibra parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by-elections, a position left vacant after the demise of Hon. Ken Okoth.

gross misconduct. In a statement released by the club, it said that the player has had series of poor performances on the pitch and even perennial absenteeism from the training.

The player’s poor performance on the pitch and serial absence from training without permission from the club have led to his premature ouster from the record Kenyan champions, just months into his two-year deal,” the club wrote in a statement

The club defended it’s decision by saying that they had severally tried out reaching to Oliech but all in vein. It further expressed it’s disappointment by the player’s involvement in politics, reiterating that the move was to picture the club in a bad and tainted image.

“The move to offer yourself for the elections is likely to portray the club in bad light causing disaffection among the club’s supporters and fans.” read the club’s statement.

The Club’s chairman, Ambrose Rachier, further went ahead to confirm the dismissal.

“Yes we have terminated Oliech’s contract over gross misconduct. We’ve put everything in writing. He absconded training to a period running to over a month. Secondly, he himself posted his photo on social media that he’s running for the Kibra parliamentary seat on ODM ticket. Gor Mahia is not a political outfit,”
