In a series of tweets he shared on Thursday, May 9, Miguna said the copies arrived at the port on March 7, and upon completion of the clearance process, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials refused to allow them in the country until they got “orders from above”.

“The books arrived from Germany on March 7, 2019. My clearing agent was charged KSh. 256,000 (an amount higher than the cost of shipping.) I paid the inflated charges. But the KRA officer responsible said that he would only release the books upon getting instructions from above,” read one of the tweet

The author stated he had sent 1, 830 copies of the explosive book which narrates in detail the events that characterised the 2017 General Election, and the aftermath drama that saw Opposition leader Raila Odinga conduct a mock swearing in ceremony at Uhuru Park.

Miguna was part of the National Super Alliance (NASA) team that organised the treasonous event and was the one who administered the oath.

The self declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general was later forced into exile in what was seen as a move to get rid of his political activism in the country. The government, however, argued that it had nothing against the lawyer but only wanted him to formalise his Kenyan citizenship which according to the Immigration ministry, he denounced back in 1990s and acquired Canadian citizenship.

Despite wining court cases and securing orders directing the government to allow him back, Miguna has been denied entry and has remained in exile ever since he was first deported for a second time in March same year. These frustrations developed content for his new book.
