The team believed head injuries were fatal enough to kill the former Philips Electronics East Africa chief executive officer. His wife, Sarah Wairimu is the chief suspect in the investigations.

On Thurday, October 3, Wairimu pleaded not guilty before Justice Stella Mutuku and proceeded to apply to be released on bail. The 56-year-old woman was accused of killing Cohen between July 19 and 20 jointly with others not before the court on the fateful day he went missing.

During a court meeting on Friday, October 4, to hear bail application, Cohen’s family lawyer Cliff Ombeta said the suspect was better detained to avoid witness interference if freed.

Ombeta argued given the fact Wairimu has no fixed permanent home, she could easily mingle with some of the state witnesses. The court resumes on Friday, October 11, to make a ruling on whether to free the accused or not.
